| | Honoring Our Past, Embracing Our Future
A decade ago, our community rallied together to answer a call, and the impact we’e made since then is nothing short of incredible. Today, it has grown into a mission that serves over 1,000 individuals every single day.
As we embark on this new journey around the sun, thoughts of renewal and change are at the forefront of our minds. At KCHC, we are thankful for the remarkable leadership, courage, persistence, and bold dreams provided by our founding Executive Director, Stephanie Primm. As Steph begins her well-deserved retirement, we pledge to carry forward her brave vision for our organization and community. Every day, we will be guided by Steph’s enduring words: “we simply do the right thing.”
I had the privilege of joining the KCHC team six years ago. Today, I stand humbled and grateful for the opportunity to step into the role of Interim Executive Director. I am particularly excited to serve alongside our skilled and dedicated team while collaborating with numerous community members and providers. Over the years, the landscape of needs has evolved, but the spirit of our community has remained steadfast, even deepening its commitment.
As we set out to achieve our goals for the upcoming year, it is crucial to acknowledge the genuine needs of our neighbors. We must strive for affordable and accessible housing for all. Everyone is worthy of access to essentials such as food, shelter, heat, water, low-barrier transportation, medical care, and healthy connections. We must also recognize that one size does not fit all.
Our community sets an inspiring example with its willingness to stand together and support one another. Let’s continue to think creatively and boldly as we cultivate new solutions. Let’s celebrate the incredible work that has already been accomplished while remaining energized and determined for what lies ahead.
Together, we have the power to create positive change, to uplift those in need, and to continue building a more compassionate and inclusive community. The past decade has shown us what we are capable of when we come together, and the future holds even greater potential. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. Here’s to the next ten years of making a difference, one life at a time. |

Doing it Differently:SHELTERING YOUTH AND FAMILIES | "Hospitality House is different from other shelters because we provide stability, allowing residents to focus on their housing and health. Many shelters require people to leave during the day with no guarantee of a bed when they return. This almost always causes undue stress, anxiety, and insecurity. Here, residents get to move into a space they can call their own, giving them a sense of security and removing the stress of not knowing where they are going to eat or sleep each night." —Shannon Roche, Shelter Manager |

| | Transforming the lives of local youth. 4 studio apartments located in the heart of Rockland are available to young people between the ages of 18 and 22. They provide safe, reliable, and affordable places to call home. Here youth work on a self-driven plan that includes employment or education goals, as well as transitioning out of the program. Youth practice budgeting and saving by paying a portion of their income into the program. Upon graduating they receiving back half of what they paid in. Many have gone on to use this equity to fund a security deposit, a car, or college tuition. This program fills a need for local youth transitioning into adulthood. It gives them a solid foundation to avoid pitfalls that can derail young people starting out. |
