Childcare

Parents at the Hospitality House need respite childcare. Respite childcare gives parents time to rest or take care of important tasks while remaining on site. If you enjoy spending time with children, consider becoming a volunteer babysitter.

Youth Activities

Do you enjoy helping with hands-on activities or field trips for youth, from arts to cooking to outdoor adventures? Maybe you have a special skill to share such as sewing or painting? How about helping in the kitchen during meals? The Landing Place is a wonderful place for 13-21 year olds to find free supplies, mentoring and activities.

Gardening & Yardwork

If getting outside is more your thing, flower and vegetable gardens at all locations need you! We also need occasional help with yard work. Seasonal opportunities (March-October) exist to work in the gardens.

Food Prep & Delivery

Twice a week during the school year, teams of volunteers cook and deliver a delicious warm supper to The Landing Place youth center that the young people can take home.

The Hospitality House accepts meal donations that can be dropped off during evening meal times. Volunteers are also welcome to cook dinner at the house.

Please contact us regarding some specific requirements for meal donations at 207-593-8151 and to get on either schedule.

Mentors

Mentors play unique roles in the lives of Homeworthy clients. Some provide basic social support for clients who may have limited personal relationships in the community. Others provide more specialized support related to a specific skillset or interest. Our hope is that mentors become role models and provide much needed peer support for adult and youth clients. Additional volunteer training is required to participate in this program.

Movers

We are in the business of finding people homes. Part of that process includes moving folks into their new homes, as well as transporting furniture donated from the community to and from our Rockport campus. If interested, we would love to add you to our list of potential movers.

Cleaning and Organizing

Cleaning and organizing support is needed throughout Homeworthy including:

  • The Hospitality House, Firefly Field, and the Transitional Living Apartments—when clients move out to help ensure that the space is clean, comfortable and ready to welcome new residents. If you enjoy cleaning and preparing an inviting home for clients to move into, we are seeking to add volunteers to our list of cleaners.

  • The Landing Place—appreciates support with cleaning and organizing during non-program days.

  • Homeworthy Barn—help organizing donated furniture and other household items filling up our barn! Assistance includes sorting, grouping, and arranging items to make it easier for clients to select what they need for their new homes.

Transportation

Hospitality House residents need assistance with transportation to weekend and after-hour appointments when our regular drivers are not available. There are also opportunities to assist The Landing Place staff with transporting youth following the after school program. Additional volunteer training is required to be a driver.
