Dear Friends,
As summer arrives in Midcoast Maine, our community begins to transform. Familiar faces return, and visitors from all walks of life arrive to enjoy all that this place has to offer. The energy of the season brings new opportunities to connect with one another.
Lately, I've been feeling especially inspired by the young people in our region. Youth who are learning about the challenges of homelessness in the Midcoast and finding ways to become part of the solution. From a Waldorf student organizing a book drive, a young group of artists organizing a paper flower sale fundraiser, to CRMS students advocating for their peers, I am continually reminded that meaningful change often begins with our youngest and most curious community members.
At Homeworthy, we believe that strong neighborhoods are built through collaboration. None of this work happens alone. It happens because people come together to share their talents, offer their resources, and choose to care about what happens to their neighbors.
As our community grows for the summer season, we encourage folks to remember that there is room for everyone to be part of this collective. Whether you are a year-round resident, a seasonal neighbor, a longtime supporter, or someone just learning about Homeworthy for the first time, we invite you to join us. There are countless ways to get involved, and every contribution helps strengthen our mission.
If you're just getting to know Homeworthy, or if you have questions about our work and programs, please feel free to reach out—you are always welcome to reply to this email. Thank you for being part of the fabric of our community and for helping make these stories possible.
Warmly, |

| | Third Annual Cookbook Fundraiser - Thank You! |
|
|
A heartfelt thank you to our friends at the Uproot Pie Co! This past Sunday, June 7, they hosted the third annual cookbook fundraiser in support of Homeworthy at the beautiful Carriage House.
Despite a rainy weekend, community members came together to browse hundreds of donated cookbooks, enjoy delicious eats and support Homeworthy's mission. Gatherings like these are a wonderful reminder of the generosity and connection that make the Midcoast region so special.
We are always so thankful to the team at Uproot Pie Co. for opening their space and sharing their hospitality. Thank you as well to everyone who donated cookbooks and raffle items or purchased a book over the weekend! Your support helps strengthen Homeworthy's work and keeps us fueled for the future. |

Setting Sail with Morning in Maine |
|
| |
Earlier this month, 11 young folks and four staff members from The Landing Place embarked on a memorable sailing adventure along the Maine coast with Captain Tyler and First Mate Jamie of Morning in Maine. For many of the youth, it was an opportunity to experience Maine from a new perspective, spending time on a sailboat and taking in the beauty of Penobscot Bay from the water for the first time. Days like these, when a young person can enjoy an experience without stress or pressure, are so crucial. We are incredibly grateful to Captain Tyler, First Mate Jamie, and the Morning in Maine team for their generosity and commitment to creating such a special opportunity! Thank you for helping make this unforgettable day possible. |

Addressing a Growing Need: Expanded Mental Health Support for Youth |
|
| |
Exciting news! Homeworthy has received $30,000 in grant funding to expand free mental health services for youth in our community. Thanks to the generous support of the Redco Foundation, Maine Community Foundation, and Camden Rotary Club, The Landing Place will be able to offer more free counseling sessions and provide youth with greater choice by partnering with additional mental health clinicians. |

The need for mental health support among young people has increased significantly in recent years, and this funding will help ensure that more youth can access the care they need. As part of this effort, Homeworthy is also partnering with Trekkers to identify young people experiencing acute mental health challenges and connect them with services more quickly. Together, we are working to address the growing demand for youth mental health support and help young people in our community thrive. |

An Afternoon of Gratitude (and Burgers) |
|
|
On June 5, The Landing Place welcomed volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters to the annual "Thank You So Much BBQ," a special event dedicated to celebrating the people who help make this work come to life.
It was a beautiful bluebird day as guests gathered in the backyard and enjoyed delicious burgers, hot dogs, fresh fruit, chips, popsicles and more. There was a board game tournament and a water gun fight, as well as community connection and laughter. We are deeply thankful to everyone who joined us and to the volunteers, donors, community partners, and friends whose generosity and commitment make this work possible every day. |

| | | Community Spotlight: Theo Kahn |
|
| |
Community support comes in many forms, and sometimes it starts with a school project. As his end-of-year project at Ashwood Waldorf School, local student Theo Kahn built a handcrafted bookshelf and organized a book drive that collected more than 200 children's and young adult books. Theo also presented the project to his school community, sharing the process, challenges, and lessons he learned along the way.

With the help of his family, Theo recently delivered the bookshelf and books to Homeworthy. His thoughtful project is a wonderful example of how community members of all ages contribute to our mission in creative and meaningful ways. We are so grateful to Theo and his family for their generosity and for choosing to support Homeworthy through this inspiring act of service. |
